Full Researcher of Laboratory of Hematology, Genetics and Computational Biology (LHGB) of Gonçalo Moniz Research Center (CPqGM) of Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ) in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Visiting Professor of Biochemistry at the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS). He has a degree in Pharmacy from Federal University of Ouro Preto (1992), Master’s degree in Biochemistry from Ribeirão Preto Medical School of São Paulo University (1994) and PhD in Cell Biology and Molecular Biology from Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (2002). He also has 2 postdoctoral, the last one being held at National Cancer Institute at National Institutes of Health in the United States. He has experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics of Human Retroviruses (HIV and HTLV) and Human Arboviruses (Chikungunya, Zika, Dengue and Yellow Fever), working mainly on the following topics: Molecular epidemiology and evolution of human viruses, Polymorphisms in genes of human host viruses, clinical-epidemiological correlations in human viruses, development of new bioinformatics tools for the study of human / host virus genes. He also works as advisor / permanent professor of the postgraduate course in Biotechnology in Health and Investigative Medicine of CPqGM / FIOCRUZ of postgraduate course in Human and Experimental Pathology of FIOCRUZ / UFBA; and Microbiology (Virology area) of Federal University of Bahia; and Graduate Course in Public Health of State University of Feira de Santana.
