Graduated in Medicine from Faculty of Medicine of Bahia (UFBA) in 1979, Master in Human Pathology from the Federal University of Bahia (1988) and PhD in Human Pathology from the Federal University of Bahia (1992). Post-doctorate at Institut Pasteur de Lyon-France in Ultra structural Pathology of the Liver (1982-1983) and at the School of Public Health of Harvard University in 1993-1994. Adjunct Professor of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine of Bahia, working in the graduate and as professor of Postgraduate Program in Pathology of UFBA / FIOCRUZ. Researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. Research activities in Hepatic Pathology focusing on steatohepatitis / oxidative stress and viral hepatitis pathology, working with human disease and murine experimental models. He develops researches on human cutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis, canine visceral leishmaniasis and murine experimental models. He works in the diagnostic area of human pathology and coordinates at FIOCRUZ, a reference unit of Ministry of Health, histological diagnosis of liver diseases and liver transplants
